Since the birthday party Dani has continued to be very busy learning new things every day. One thing I should tell you about this clever little girl is that she likes to hide things all over the house. One day I found something laying outside of a cupboard, so I went to put it away. When I did I found something that belonged in the back entry, so I went to put that away. Laying there was an item that belonged in the living room, and so on. She makes these little trades/deposits wherever she goes. It can lead you in circles all day!
This past Monday (February 8th), while eating at the Ground Round with Dani (Jeff was at a meeting), she used a straw! I was so excited I had to text Jeff and call my Mom and Dad. :) Before this we had been using our fingers to hold water in the straw and then letting it go when she had it in her mouth. She's used a sippy cup for quite a while, but this is so much better and I think she feels like a big girl when using her straw sippy. She looks very proud of herself.
Then on Tuesday, Dani said a word that we understood for sure. I'm sure it's not her first word or anything like that, since she has said Mama, Dada, Da? (which we think is her "what's that/who's that?"). The word was "balloon". She would point to it and then say something that sounds like "ba-wew". It's so cute. I have no idea what her first word would be. I thought it was Mama, but I'm not sure if she knew that Mama was me when she said it for the first time. Same with Dada. Plus, she always talking, so it's probably just that I haven't been understanding.
Big news for Wednesday was that I sat Danica on her potty for the first time and she actually went #1 in it (just a bit). I was super excited. Haven't had much luck the few times I have put her on it since then, but I remain hopeful. :)
We have now officially started the remodel project in our kitchen, dining room, back entry and laundry room. So far only a few cupboards have been taken down in the kitchen, but they are all empty and ready to go! I am really excited about this project and ready to get that nasty carpet out of our kitchen!!! :)
