You Guessed It! I'm not 50 weeks pregnant. :)

Danica helping Daddy put together the baby crib (in our old room) on July 28th.  Don't like to get things done too early.  LOL

More action...

Well, these pics were taken after Baby Myers #2 was born, so you will see some hints...but I'm going to pretend there is suspense.  Hey, I've been busy!  :)

Checked into the hospital Round #1 on July 29th.  Had back labor all day and it was time to go in since it was getting to be about 3 - 5 minutes apart.  Gotta remember we have an hour drive to get to Minot.

Jeff and I that same day.  :)

Birth Story

I had been having back labor pains since late Thursday (28th), just as I did with my DD.  They were getting pretty regular and paralyzing starting on Friday, the 29th of July.  My husband and I drove to the hospital, contacted our doula, who met us there.  The hospital said that I was only 1 cm, and after being there for 8 hours, didn't make any progress since the baby was still "floating" (not putting pressure on my cervix).  I was discharged late that night.  Contractions never stopped.
The next day (30th), I woke up, still having horrible back labor contractions.  I thought that perhaps my water may have broken while on the toilet since I was done peeing and then as I was wiping, a bunch more liquid came out.  We drove to the hospital again and our doula met us there.  This time I was only there for a few hours.  The doctor decided that it wasn't my water breaking.  They figured the baby just moved causing my bladder to be able to release more urine.  This time when I left, I was at 2 cm.
By late afternoon on this same day, the contractions were now unbearable.  My Mom and husband decided that even though we were just there this morning, that we should go back in.  My in-laws took our 2-1/2 year old daughter, and the three of us (Mom, hubby and I) headed to the hospital.  We arrived at the back entrance, which we didn't realize would be closed at this time, luckily there was a nurse there who said she doesn't normally let people in after hours, but said "it looks like you need it" and let us in.  We took the elevator downstairs, then walked the long hallway to the next elevator that would bring us upstairs to labor and delivery.  When I got there, I told the nurse that I hadn't called ahead this time, but she brought us to an open room.  She got some info and then came back with a doctor.  The nurse continued to ask questions as the doctor checked on the situation externally by checking the baby's position.  He asked the nurse how far dilated I was and she said that she hadn't had time to check yet.  So she came over and started to check and my water broke almost immediately.  There was water gushing everywhere.  All over the bed, all over the floor, EVERYWHERE!  I could hear the splashing noises as it hit the floor.  I was relieved because at least this meant they wouldn't be sending us home again.  I was here to have our baby.  Suddenly the young nurse said, "I think the cord is right here.  I think this is the cord."  Not sure exactly what happened next, but there was an older nurse (the Charge Nurse) there and she felt in there as well, and said "You're right, that's the cord".  The next part is an absolute blur.  The Charge Nurse was calling out orders to get all the nurses in there stat and to get the OR ready.  The younger Nurse (Jerry) said that she would take over.  She hopped on the bed with me and put her hand in my uterus to hold back the baby's head, so that it wouldn't put pressure on the cord.  I looked at the monitors that I was hooked up to and I saw that the baby's heart rate was down to 63 or so and was continuing to drop.  The head was putting pressure on the cord cutting off oxygen to the baby.  Jerry continued to hold baby back, an oxygen mask was placed on my face and I was told to breathe "nice and slow".  I had so many questions running through my mind, and was scared to death, not knowing what was going on or what was going to happen.
I was being wheeled out of the room with Jerry still on the bed.  My husband and Mom were told that they had to stay there and that I was going to have an emergency c-section.  They wheeled me down the hallway, I lost track of where I was, but knew I was in the Operating Room.  The Nurses had me scoot from the bed that I was on, to the operating table.  Jerry moved along with me, still holding the baby back.  I heard that Charge Nurse asking "is the Doctor here yet, we need to move fast".  The other Doctor on staff was not qualified to perform surgery, as he was a Family Medicine Doctor, not OBGYN.
The next thing I remember is having a different mask put on my face and my arms were being spread apart to either side.  I don't remember anything about the surgery itself.  The next thing that I remember is being wheeled out into a hallway a little ways and then someone showing me my Baby Girl quickly before going to another room.
I found out later that she had to be resuscitated and that the surgery wasn't entirely sterile due to the fact that they had to act so fast.  Because of the seriousness of the situation, the c-section was conducted vertically on the outside, cutting through most of my abdominal muscles and the one on the inside is horizontal and low enough that we should be able to have more children if we choose to do so.
This is easily the scariest thing that has ever happened to me in my lifetime, but I'm just so thankful to God and the hospital staff that night that everything worked out and that my Daughter and I are alive and doing well.
Our little miracle, Lynde Ruth, was born on July 31st at 11:48pm.  She weighed 9lbs 1oz and was 22 inches long.

The first photo that I recall being taken of Lynde and I together, which was taken after being in recovery for a couple hours.  :)
