"2 Week" Appointment (2/19/09)

So, we missed Danica's 2 week appointment due to road conditions, but it was rescheduled for February 19th when she was 3 week and 2 days old and here are the updates. Danica was born weighing 7lbs 14oz and when we left the hospital she weighed 7lbs 5oz. On the day of her appointment she weighed 9lbs 2oz, so we had some good weight gain...she's pretty proud of her little self! :) As far as length goes, that is unchanged...21 inches. Jeff and I aren't quite sure about this whole length accuracy anyways since the doctor/nurse just waits for her to stretch out and that doesn't usually last too long so it looks more like a quick guesstimate to us. They checked her breathing, heartrate, hips, reflexes, eyes, etc and everything looks good. She's healthy!

It's hard to believe that in a couple of days she will be a month old. The days can seem long, the nights seem short, but all in all the time has really gone by fast! She is eating much more frequently these days, must be a growth spurt thing, so we're getting much less sleep and she has been awake more during the day. She still doesn't enjoy tummy time much, I try to tell her that lying on her back on Dad's stomach does NOT count for "tummy time", but she still resists. :)

While in Minnesota the other weekend Jeff purchased a snowmobile which he has been putting to use as much as possible in his little bit of free time. Today he was going to drive the sled to Makoti to put some more gas in, but had an issue about 2-1/2 miles from home. He said it was just like the power shut off. After trying everything he could think of, he ended up calling home to have me pick him up. Hopefully we can figure it out soon and pick the sled up, right now it is just sitting along side the road. I know Jeff will want to ride again ASAP! ;)

Our future plans now include planning a baptism and having baby announcement cards made. All for now.
